Have You Been to Ann Taylor Lately?

I used to think that Ann Taylor was too stuffy for me, and I still think it’s kind of stuffy, but they’ve got some really cute clothes. I’ve purchased a few things from them over the past couple months, like I’ve gotten some accessories, a couple necklaces, a scarf, a linen tank top and a jacket (I wore it last week).

They always seem to have some kind of sale, too, and some of them are HUGE, like the 50% off ones, some for in-store and some are just online.

So check out Ann Taylor next time you pass by the store at the mall. I also think that the fit is better, and the fabric and the sizing are a lot more consistent, than LOFT, their sister store.

I got a couple of linen tees from loft last spring, and also a linen tank at Ann Taylor, and the tank is absolutely softer than the tees.

Soup Cans or stripes and Sequins?

Converse Andy Warhol High Tops ($94.95)
I’m kind of drawn to the soup can shoes because they’ve got that off-white thing going, and I know I’d be able to wear them with much more outfits (although they’d get hella dirty), but you know how much homegirl loves some sparkly bling! So I’d choose the sequins and stripes.

They aren’t exactly my style…but they’d certainly give people something interesting to look at when they saw my feet. Plus, if I were to ever end up on a stage somewhere (because you never know) under big, bright lights, with the sequins shining, I’d look like I have magical fairy feet.

And that’s a big plus.

New Orleans Adventures, Day two

Day two in new Orleans (that was yesterday) started with — yup, you guessed it! — beignets as well as a cafe au lait. I fueled up at a adorable bit location called cafe Beignet in the French Quarter.

The beignets at the shop were denser as well as not as sugary as the ones at cafe du Monde (mmm, so good!), however I’m not one to state no to fried dough…so of program I ate ’em anyway.

After breakfast, El Hub as well as I trekked out to the garden district once again to look at more fancy-schmancy houses.

When I win the lottery, this is the home I plan/hope to online in…

I like the significant windows as well as the magnolia tree in front.

We likewise walked by Anne Rice’s former abode, as well as I wondered which windows she looked out of when she had writer’s block…

More neat houses…

After inspecting out more homes we wandered around magazine Street, which has great deals of cafes as well as shops, including this cool store called Miette…

Apparently, it’s the location to go if you requirement a bag in the shape of a cat’s head, a vibrant wig, radiant beaded illumination fixtures, panties with pockets, or a beard.

More cemetary pics (because NOLA has lots of incredible centuries-old cemeteries)…

When we got back to the French Quarter, I discovered a great regional perfume shop (there are rather a few here, perhaps because of the French influence) that has been around since the 1920s. I grabbed a few bars of tea olive soap from there as souvenirs.

And then more sightseeing around the Quarter…

It was one more excellent day as well as night, as well as today was fun, too. now it’s back to truth as well as the lovely Bay Area. See you from Novato soon.

What Scent Are You Wearing?

Byredo Parfums Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum ($220 for a 3.3-oz. spray bottle), offered now at Neiman Marcus
Despite El Niño’s chilly whispers far earlier in the year than usual, the weather condition turned warmer once again last week, which is quite typical for the Bay area in October.

Love, if you plan a trip to the San Francisco Bay Area, this is the very best time to visit. Late September/early October. We get fewer foggy days in the city, as well as most of the summertime tourists have gone, so there’s less web traffic as well as the crowds are smaller.

With this bit heatwave we’ve been having (it’s meant to hit 91 today!), it’s been as well hot for truly creamy, warm or musky scents for me, so today I’m all about Byredo Parfums Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum ($220 for a 3.3-oz. spray bottle, offered now at Neiman Marcus).

I suggest everything the time to buddies who truly don’t like heavy, cloying scents. I like it for weekends as well as jeans/t-shirt days.

It starts with crisp bergamot, lemon, pepper as well as juniper berry notes, then opens into a refreshing, light mix of incense (not as well strong), want needles as well as orris, as well as dries down to amber, vanilla as well as sandalwood.

That name, as well — Gypsy Water — like, let’s all phone call in ill today as well as just go to Hawaii, yay!

Speaking of that, here’s the other scent I’m likewise wearing…

LOL! I had to get Hawaii up in my scent mix today. Ain’t no pity in that game. trick Hawaii Citrus breeze Antiperspirant/Deodorant ($4.99).

How about you? What scent are you wearing?

Oh, Baby! welcome the benefit Dandelion as well as Hoola Minis to the household

infants are so wonderful.

They’re the reason I’m right here composing this publish for you (thank you, Connor Claire!), as well as they’re the reason that my home is an outrageous however happy mess.

Also, when you’re a makeup lover, they’re commonly the reason you may have yourself a bit splurge from time to time, or, take the chance to try a tiny version of a usually costly product at a fraction of full price!

Of course, now I’m not speaking about the exact same type of babies. now I’m speaking about baby-sized makeup, in all its wonderful adorableness, as well as I understand I can’t be the only one inexplicably drawn to “mini” makeup.

If you, like me, can’t get sufficient of excellent things that are tiny, the new spring 2016 benefit Hoola as well as benefit Dandelion minis are for you (and me!).

Benefit’s much-loved regular-sized 0.28 oz. $29 Hoola as well as Dandelion boxed powders have been around as long as I’ve liked makeup (years), as well as now these new smaller 0.12 oz. minis, which offer for $15, make it even much easier to get to understand this traditional bronzer as well as rosy pink powder without committing to the full size. Or, if you already have a full-size Hoola or Dandelion, now you can add smaller emergency sizes too.

Benefit Hoola as well as Dandelion Minis ($15 as well as 0.12 ounces each)
Favorite thing about these is that benefit didn’t modification a thing about them other than their size, since a great deal of the time with tiny products, there’s something crucial missing, like a mirror that includes the full-size version or a magnetized closure, however benefit need to have just pulled out their shrink ray. These have a mirror, a strong box, as well as they snap shut. The brand even went so far as to include teeny, small applicator brushes (not shown).

Benefit Hoola as well as Dandelion Minis (0.12 ounces each)

Benefit Hoola as well as Dandelion Minis (left to right): Hoola, Dandelion
I’m all about baby-sized anythings, as well as as somebody who gotten Dandelion when she was nearly a infant herself — I’m speaking 15 — it was one of the extremely very first pieces of makeup I started using regularly. It’s great to have that timid rosy pink in my collection again.

Of course, the packaging has altered significantly considering that I very first started using Dandelion, however I assurance you that I would have gravitated to a tiny version even then.

Do you have benefit Hoola or Dandelion in your collection?

And do you have any type of baby-sized appeal products? If you do, what’s your fave?

From One artist to Another: An overview of the Kiko SS16 “The Artist” Collection

Kiko “The Artist” Collection Face. (I made a download available of a full face chart below.)

Kiko Milano is one of my favorite beauty brands because they create such superb products at nominal prices. I first heard about them through a friend who had traveled to Italy, and I’m excited to see their stores popping up stateside! now I don’t see a Kiko store coming to my neck of the woods in Atlanta anytime soon, but ordering online makes it just as easy.

For spring 2016, Kiko presents “The Artist” — a limited edition collection to inspire you to become a canvas of your own. The packaging is minimal and clean and was inspired by an artists’s tools. I’m pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail.

Kiko artist Stroke Mineral Eyeshadow 03 ($8)
Kiko Colour Click Lipstick ($8); the bullet is released by clicking it in!
Fine Art Eye Pencil 03 ($7) and the signature Eyemarker Black ($8)
Starting on base makeup, the Glacial Light Soft Sifter foundation ($15) is a lightweight water-based liquid foundation. The coverage is sheer, and it’s available in six shades, with the one pictured being the darkest. 06 (Neutral 80) is a little dark for me, but according to the back of my hand, the foundation blends very nicely. great for minimal makeup days.

I love how quickly the slightly oversized artist foundation brush ($15), which Kiko recommends for this kind of formula, spreads the product. Conveniently, the brush is also very pretty to look at!

There’s also a Powder face brush ($15) that looks heavenly.

Priced at just $8, the Colour Click Lipstick gives you full-on color from a single swipe. The click packaging is pretty addicting as well! Can’t find any complaints with this lipstick, other than how there needs to be more shades!

The next two eye lining products are the most obviously artist inspired. starting with the signature Eye Marker ($8), which is spatula-shaped and has a very thick and rounded tip. If you turn it on its side, you can draw a thinner line. It drew on really easily for me, but it can’t top some of my other favorite eyeliners.

Now, the fine Art Pencil ($7) may just be the longest lasting kajal-type eyeliner I’ve ever tried, and the color of 03 is really unique and pretty for the under-eye area.

Zoya Nana nail Lacquer, a Refreshingly Creamy bright Pink

Zoya nail Lacquer in Nana ($9)
My stylish nana, whom I call my lola, which is Tagalog for “grandmother,” would probably love this lacquer, because she’s all about the reds and pinks.

It’s new $9 Zoya nail Lacquer in Nana, and it’s part of the new Zoya Island fun & Paradise sun summer 2015 Collection available now online and wherever Zoya is sold.

Doesn’t it look refreshing?

Yes, I’m referring to both the smoothie and the lacquer.

And speaking of smoothies, I’m still all about ’em, especially for breakfast, and here’s my current favorite at the moment. It’s the Pink Power Smoothie (here’s the recipe).

I keep trying to get myself to slow my roll and drink them less often, because I don’t want to burn myself out on the power of the pink smoothie, but I cannot. I’m wickedly addicted.

Same goes for Zoya Nana. I’ve already worn Nana twice this month, which is like a world record for me, LOL! I suffer from a severe case of new nail polish Compulsive disorder (NNPCD).

Nana is smooth, non-streaky and highly pigmented, so I can get away with one coat if I’m in a rush.

Both of the times I’ve worn it, I applied two coats without a base and top coat (so lazy), and I started seeing small chips around the third or fourth day.

That’s pretty good for me, considering that I spend most of my days opening cans of gravy for my liege and patron, Sir Tabs.

Five full-size pans

A new LE blush as well as bronzer kit, benefit Cheek Parade is $58 as well as includes five — FIVE! — full-size products from the benefit long-term line, including Hoola Bronzer as well as the new Hoola Light; old-school blush faves Rockateur as well as Dandelion, in addition to the new Galifornia; as well as a full-size deal with brushy-brush.

Just as fabulous as B’s long-term line blushes as well as bronzers

Limited edition kits with perm products in them have let me down so many times before, particularly lately. For whatever reasons, many of them have products that just don’t perform as much as par compared to the exact same products in the long-term collection. To paraphrase the Interwebz, “Y THO?!”

Thank ye makeup gods, however the blushes as well as bronzers in Cheek Parade DO perform as much as par! exact same look, exact same texture, exact same smell…

OH, MY THE GOSH, THE SMELL.

Eau de peach gummy

For me, it’s a bit much. I mean, I normally don’t mind scented deal with products at all, however when I open this palette, I feel like I’m surfing a tsunami of peach gummy rings. It’s cloying as well as borderline synthetic.

It doesn’t make my stomach turn, however I desire it wasn’t so…in my face.

The verdict

Doing the makeup math, Cheek Parade is a flat-out great offer if you’re a pale princess or a medium-toned temptress, since two of the products, Dandelion blush as well as Hoola Light Bronzer, are most noticeable on lighter skin.

I’m quite tan (NC42), as well as they barely show up on me.

Where to discover it

Cheek Parade is supposed to be offered now on the benefit website, however as I’m composing this post, it’s listed as out of stock. It’s likewise slated to show up soon on the Sephora website as well as will be offered in Sephora stores starting April 7th.
